We have seen a lot of so good reviews about godaddy on net. But our experience has been quite opposite. Their shared hosting is obviously oversold and they make life difficult with their custom control panel and other tools. But as far as self managed servers are concerned, they are just fine. For both dedicated and virtual dedicated, they offer a lots of options. It is infact very easy to custom build and upgrade your hosting package. RAM is available up to 2 GB, for dedicated servers, and 512 mb for virtual dedicated.
Support is quite good, takes around 3-6 hrs for reply. They also have a 24 hrs helpline, in case of emergency. Please note that they don't offer managed hosting(it is available as an add-on option), its your responsibility to ensure that the server software is working fine. They fix any hardware issues and will reinstall the OS, if needed.
Rates are very reasonable, depending on your selected configuration. You can get a server with 512 mb assured RAM for as low as $41 per month(we recommend 512 mb ram for a medium/high traffic site). For around $50, you can configure a top end virtual dedicated server. Overall, godaddy is cheap and reliable. They don't promise the moon but they deliver what they promise.
